Comparison of food companies

 Frankie and Benny’s
McDonald’s
Conservative colours, red is an appetizing
colour, green is a healthy colour. The combination makes for a fancy eating place, The font is more traditional looking to promote that it’s a bit classy and the food is cared for

Logo blends into environment, brands immediately ruin the classy look of anything but a good middle ground shows availability to everyone

Individual menus

Waiters, combined with the menus it shows that the customer is important and deserves service.

Different types of tables and walls for privacy
Each building is built with a high level of refinery, for a more intimate and quiet atmosphere, these types of restaurants are for more important occasions not just because of the price.

Like a dining area, very fancy, you go there for hour-long meals with starters and whatnot, not just a coffee.
Bright colours, yellow and red attracts the eye, looks very friendly, like a cartoon. Is appetizing

Bold logo on everything. You know everything with that logo is going to be consistent with the quality of everything else, nobody feels scared to eat a new item on the menu. Large part of the company is focused on advertising. Their website has price tags plastered everywhere

One large menu above ordering counter
No waiters, The customers must go to order the food themselves, service is quick and there is no waiting around. Most McDonalds feature a drive thru.

Little variation of eating area furniture, there is no reserving of tables, you pick a seat and eat, no tier of quality

Designed to be built anywhere, very shipping crate type construction.

Like a vending machine, you get your food and your done, no formalities. Little human contact. Very express.

Comparing competitive restaurants in the USA to understand what the companies feel is important to be successful. McDonalds is marketing towards the busy people of America with their fast service
Frankie and Benny's is more interested in attracting the family eating traditions of America. Or something like that.

USA Food Moodboard

USA Food Moodboard
The is what I have found to be a good representation of the culture of one of shade of the USA and it's food.
Of course there other other healthier things that pop up when you think of America but this is the angle I'm going for

The task is to create a restaurant titled "Reflections of <whaterver country>" where you can eat that country's food in a simulated environment of that country
The first step in achieving that is understanding what the countries food and culture is like
